Sulzer Pumps Expands its Sales and Service Center in South Africa

Sulzer Pumps has expanded its sales and service center and relocated to a new premise in Durban, South Africa.
Sulzer Pumps has expanded its sales and service center and relocated to a new premise in Durban, South Africa. The new location is a larger facility that houses service, sales and project management to meet customer needs in the regions of Southern, Central and Eastern Africa. It works with the cooperation of the already established Sulzer Pumps service center network within the region.

Serving customers in the power, hydrocarbon processing, water, pulp and paper, chemical processing and general industries, the Durban service facility is fully equipped to perform repairs and refurbishments services for centrifugal pumps and agitators, both for the Sulzer Pumps' range as well as other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).  Additional spare parts requirements are supported locally, in addition to being backed up by Sulzer Pumps’ global network of spare parts manufacturing centers.

Through services from Sulzer Pumps, customers will benefit from energy efficiency, optimized production output, cost savings, and extended maintenance cycles. Service agreements such as inventory management, exchange unit services, and other long term service contracts are part of its expertise.

With 90 years of experience in South Africa, Sulzer Pumps has a manufacturing facility in Johannesburg, and three service centers within the region.

Sulzer Metco Opens a New Production and Service Plant in China

At the end of April, Sulzer Metco celebrated the opening of its new 12,000 m² plant in Anting, the automotive hub in the north of Shanghai.
At the end of April, Sulzer Metco celebrated the opening of its new 12,000 m² plant in Anting, the automotive hub in the north of Shanghai. This new facility supports Sulzer Metco to serve its continuously growing customer base in China more efficiently.

Strong market growth, particularly in the transportation and power generation sectors, had caused Sulzer Metco Shanghai to outgrow its first and second building within a few years, requiring a new site for further expansion. Having started with a sales office in Shanghai in 2004 with 5 people, Sulzer Metco Shanghai now has more than 225 coworkers dedicated to serving their Chinese and international customers in the automotive, aerospace and power generation market.

“This new facility will allow us to continue our strong growth path in China,” says Dr. Martin Tempus, General Manager of Sulzer Metco’s China Operation. “Our location in the economic heart of China, close to many of our customers, was crucial to our past success and will continue to be key for our growth in this country.” César Montenegro, President Sulzer Metco adds, “The relocation of the Shanghai facility is another strategic step towards strengthening Sulzer’s position in the important Chinese market.”

Sulzer Pumps Opens a New Service Center in Brazil

Sulzer Pumps has opened a new service center in Nova Lima, Brazil for configured pumps, mixers, agitators and aeration systems.

Sulzer Pumps has opened a new service center in Nova Lima, Brazil for configured pumps, mixers, agitators and aeration systems. With this new service facility, Sulzer Pumps is well positioned to serve customers in the growing markets of wastewater, mining, general industry and agro-industry of Southeastern, Northern and Central Western Brazil.

Located in the region of Minas Gerais where mining is prevalent, the service center will enable the further expansion of Sulzer Pumps' offering of dewatering pumps and other wastewater solutions. Operating in close collaboration with Sulzer Pumps' Curitiba manufacturing facility in Southern Brazil, the facility provides repairs, refurbishments and spare parts for submersible and process pumps and other rotating equipment, both for the Sulzer Pumps' range as well as other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) products.

Other scope of services include field services, long term maintenance contracts, modernization projects and upgrades to provide customers a fast and efficient support. The facility will also offer rental dewatering pumps and related accessories for short-term use. Through services performed at the new service center in Brazil, customers will benefit from energy efficiency, increased reliability, cost savings and extended maintenance cycles.

Sulzer Pumps Begins Operations in Its Third Service Center in China

Sulzer Pumps has opened its third service center in China, located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in Southwestern China.

Sulzer Pumps has opened its third service center in China, located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in Southwestern China. With this new facility, Sulzer Pumps further strengthens its service network within this important market.

The installed base of Sulzer Pumps within the oil and gas, hydrocarbon processing and power industries has been growing at a rapid pace in Southwestern China over the past years. The new service center will cater to the service needs of the installed base within the region, providing technical service support, repairs and overhauling of pumps.

In addition, Sulzer Pumps have recently signed a long term service and maintenance agreement with PetroChina for the Sichuan Petrochemical project, where approximately 700 pumps are installed. The new service center is located close to our customer allowing pumps to be transported quickly to the service center, minimizing logistics time and costs.

The fully equipped service facility has an extensive range of machine tools, inspection and assembly areas to facilitate overhaul and repair activities for both Sulzer Pumps range as well as Other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). In addition to other two service centers in Shanghai and Guangzhou, Sulzer Pumps is well positioned to better serve its customers in China.

Sulzer Awarded Key Power Project in South Africa

Sulzer to supply pumps for 4 790 megawatt coal fired power station

Sulzer Pumps has received a large order from Alstom Power for pumps to be installed in the new Medupi coal fired power station, being built for Eskom, the South African national generator. The order includes a total of 48 pumps for boiler feed, booster, and condensate extraction duties. In addition to the manufacturing of the pumps, Sulzer’s scope encompasses the full project management of the pump modules, including the related equipment such as motors and couplings. The power station, the country’s first green field project for 20 years, will have an ultimate generating capacity of 4 790 megawatt.

Sulzer Pumps South Africa will project manage, manufacture, and test the pumps in its Johannesburg facility ensuring the highest possible project value is retained within South Africa. The pumps will be delivered in phases beginning in late 2009 to match the building of the six individual 798.3 megawatt power generating blocks that make up the station’s capacity. Final deliveries will be in mid 2011.

 

The company has a long tradition of manufacturing pumps in South Africa for the power generation, mining, water and refining sectors. The Johannesburg facility is fully equipped to engineer and manufacture a wide range of pumps to serve these markets. As part of a network of 14 Sulzer Pumps factories world wide, the facility is able to draw on the considerable resources of its sister plants if required.

Sulzer Pumps, one of the world's leading pump companies, is opening its first service center in Russia. Located in Khimki, Moscow, the new service center will provide repair and retrofit service for industrial pumping systems for Russian customers and help to strengthen Sulzer Pumps presence in Russia. Operating one of the largest service networks in the industry, Sulzer Pumps has more than 60 service facilities with experienced specialists around the world close to customers.

The service center in Moscow was constructed according to Sulzer Pumps global quality standards and meets all local industry regulations. The service engineers working in the service center have experience in local refineries and power stations and have also received trainings on the wide range of Sulzer Pumps products and capabilities. The service center is equipped for repairs, retrofit and efficiency improvement activities of existing pumps as well as the complete packaging of new ones. The service center will also offer trainings to employees of local customers.

In 2010, Sulzer expanded its engineering and manufacturing plant for separation technology in Serpukhov. Following the opening of the pumps' service center in Khimki, Sulzer Pumps plans to add service centers in other parts of Russia as of the company continues to invest in the technology sector of Russian industry. In addition, to providing solutions for the oil and gas, hydrocarbon processing and power generation industries, Sulzer Pumps investments also support modernization in these areas. An opening ceremony to inaugurate the new pumps service center will be held on September 21, 2011.
